About the Food Justice Collaborative
The Food Justice Collaborative, founded in 2023, is a coalition of BIPOC-led and serving organizations fighting food insecurity in King County. The Collaborative aims to shift power in the emergency food system to those who have faced racialized oppression and discrimination. Our hope is to build a community where no one goes hungry by centering those who have historically been furthest from resources and opportunities.
The co-leader group meets on the second Thursday of each month, and general meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month. If you would like to get involved, please contact us.
FJC engages a collaborative learning framework to materialize the following pillars:
Power Building
Share resources, knowledge, and connections among members to build influence and effectively advocate for BIPOC communities.
Fund Development
Pursue flexible funding to sustain and expand BIPOC-led food initiatives, and support member organizations in expanding their development strategies and expertise.
Celebration & Joy
Come together to celebrate culture, community, and the work being done - and to cultivate joy among those dismantling unjust systems.
