Winter Updates

JANUARY

We welcomed our new FJC Coordinator, Pam Ronson, to the group. We are excited to have them on board!

Elsa, our Senior Food Security Impact Manager at United Way King County, also trained us in navigating conversations with legislators for our upcoming FJC Advocacy Day.

FEBRUARY

We took a field trip to the Capitol during open session to meet with Legislators from our respective Districts.

Our primary objectives were twofold:

  • 1. To raise legislators’ awareness about the Food Justice Collaborative and our cultural food work in King County.

  • 2. To advocate for prioritized funding for culturally relevant food throughout King County food system channels.

MARCH

We welcomed members from UTOPIA WA to share a deep dive into their organization’s history, current identity, organization purpose, goals, and advice on how to respect and align with Trans Indigenous rights.
